Day of Silence

Toady is the Day of Silence.

It is in memory of Lawrence King who was shot and killed in February by a fellow student who had no tolerance for his sexual orientation. Lawrence was only 15.

Please join with me today by having your own personal moment of silence for Lawrence. And for the hope that future disasters such as this won't occur and that people will change and learn to love.

Acceptance is seeing with your heart, not your eyes.

Somebody's Baby

Yesterday I watched a video through Facebook about homophobia. It is a compilation of photos of a young boy who killed by a bully, at the age of 15, for being gay.

When I watched the video, I could not help but cry. The song that is being played while you view the photos, is "Somebody's Baby" by Pat Benatar. It was by far the best song choice for such an event.

Things like this make me worry about where out future, as a country, is really headed when it comes to tolerance. First it was racism and segregation, which is still very much part of our culture. And now it seems homophobia and civil equality and right up there next to racism.

First post!

Alrighty! I am kinda nervous. This is my first blog post EVER and I'm not really sure what all is expected.

I decided to start blogging because I feel that I have a lot to express and it is easier for me to really grasp what is going on in my life by typing it all out. Also the feed back that I will receive, hopefully :D, can also give me new insights on how this crazy thing called "life" works :)
